Katalog Configuration Tool · Reference Guide

Getting Your Data Into Katalog

Every map in the Katalog app is powered by your own GIS data, connected through the Katalog Configuration Tool. This guide covers how the tool works, then walks through the exact layers each map needs — in the order they appear in the app.

Downloads To Help You Get Started

Download a copy of these tables and publish them to your own ArcGIS organization as a starting point. Once you've published them, make sure that they are accessible to the public. When you're ready to launch, you'll provide Katalog with the URL of your master table.

How the Configuration Tool Works

Once your Master Table is set up (your Katalog onboarding contact handles this), everything below happens in the Configuration Tool at katalogmaps.com/katalog-validation, signed in with your ArcGIS username and password.

01

Add a layer

On the Layers tab, click + Add Layer, choose the layer type, and paste in its Feature Service URL.

02

Tool checks it live

The URL is verified against your real ArcGIS endpoint on the spot — including that its geometry (point, line, polygon) matches what that layer type expects.

03

Set the Search Field

For layers that need one, enter the text field that uniquely identifies a feature — almost always a text field (Road Closure and Detour Route are the exceptions; see their map below). The tool confirms the field actually exists in your data.

04

Confirm in Map Preview

The Map Preview tab tells you, map by map, "Will Appear" or "Won't Appear" — and names exactly what's still missing.
